As CHS is one of three VBCPS high schools without turf fields, coaches and Parks & Recreation services have spent more time and money than necessary lining our athletic fields. In an effort to assist the process, Falcon alums Chas and Chris Faison developed a system to improve athletic field management.
This improvement would not have been possible without the backing of Chris Faison’s company, Incredible Supply and Logistics (ISL), a company committed to protecting the American people both at home and abroad by supplying specialized materials for military, diplomatic, and domestic missions worldwide.
Faison and ISL are the primary funders for Turf Tank. Both Faison brothers have sons who currently attend the school, which inspired the dedication to this initiative. When Chas approached Chris about acquiring the Turf Tank robot for Falcon Athletics, he jumped at the opportunity to support the cause.
According to Chas Faison, this innovative technology promises to enhance efficiency, precision, and overall field aesthetics, making it a game-changer for the school’s athletic programs. The Turf Tank robot operates autonomously and, using GPS technology, marks lines with pinpoint accuracy.
The Turf Tank can complete this task in just 25 minutes by a single operator using a smart tablet. This significant reduction in time makes it easier for coaches and other staff who have been painting the fields themselves for years.
“In addition to saving time, the Turf Tank robot is designed to be environmentally friendly. It reduces paint consumption by up to 50 percent, ensuring that every drop is used efficiently. This not only cuts costs for the school but also minimizes waste,” Faison said.
Even better, this aligns with the sustainability goals CHS is striving to achieve.
The introduction of the Turf Tank robot at the school is particularly timely, as late summer and early fall mark the beginning of several busy athletic seasons. With multiple sports teams relying on well-marked fields, the robot’s ability to store field layouts and quickly repaint them ensures that the fields will always be game-ready.
Coaches and players alike can look forward to perfectly straight lines and vibrant markings that enhance the visual appeal of their home turf. Thanks to the Faison brothers and support from ISL, the Turf Tank will begin operations this month.
