Sophomores Wyatt German, Trey Miller, Braden Levy, and junior Chris Prettyman accepted the challenge to educate CHS students about “how to cook” various types of food.
The want-to-be chefs currently have zero prior cooking experience and limited knowledge. Their education began with Millerś grandmother as lead chef. Under her direction, the first task was to create a traditional Mexican dish, a chicken cheese quesadilla.
At first, making the chicken and cheese quesadillas was a bit difficult, mostly because there are so many steps involved in the process. Let us break it down.
Step 1: Gather the ingredients, including pre-made honey chicken, flour tortillas, shredded cheese, and a variety of vegetables
Step 2: Heat your skillet to 350°F and lay your flour tortillas on the skillet
Step 3: Drizzle the shredded cheese on one side of the tortilla, and then put the chicken on top of the cheese
Step 4: Fold the tortillas and use a spatula to compress all of the ingredients, including vegetables, in the tortilla
Step 5: Brush the melted butter on top of the tortillas and watch it sizzle
Step 6: Wait two minutes, then flip the quesadillas over to cook the other side
Step 7: Finally, plate the quesadillas and enjoy a nice little snack.
