“Honestly, it felt pretty crazy to kick that 40-yard game winner, but at the same time it was just another kick. When I lined up I could obviously feel the pressure, but that’s just part of kicking- having everything on the line. The second the ball left my foot, I knew I had secured the kick. Seconds later when the ball soared through the uprights, the crowd went pretty wild. My teammates started rushing me and I felt like I was in one of those ESPN highlight videos. It’s funny because people kept asking me if I was nervous, but in the moment I really wasn’t. After the game everyone was hyping me up, but I was just thinking about how hungry I was and what I was going to eat at our celebratory dinner at Shorebreak. Still, hitting a game winner in the first game of the season against Landstown is definitely something I’ll remember for a long time. Without my coaches, defense, or offense, it wouldn’t be possible so they’re the real heroes. Kickings like golf, nice, and easy. Golf has a hole, football has uprights… same thing but louder.”
