“At Cox High School, I’m involved in a few student organizations such as SCA, NHS, and the Future Medical Professionals Club. Within these organizations, I’ve been able to participate in many different volunteer opportunities and become an overall more well-rounded person. Additionally, I’ve been involved with varsity soccer for my past four years of high school, three of which were here at Cox. When it comes to being involved in the school community, what I find to be the most important quality that I’ve gained is the ability to communicate well with others. This has especially shone through in my soccer career. After playing for two different high schools and having a different head coach every year, I’ve been able to learn how to get to know people quickly and work well with them. Despite facing hardship, the team has been able to move forward and continue to improve. I think this not only comes from personal discipline but the ability to communicate with others and develop one’s mentality. When I was an underclassman, I was extremely quiet, and I lacked confidence in myself. However, coming to Cox has allowed me to break out of my shell and prosper in doing something I love. This required a strong shift in my mentality, but it also came from the relationships I built with my teammates and coaches. All this considered, I would say my involvement in Cox soccer has really allowed me to unlock parts of myself that I don’t think I would’ve seen if I hadn’t taken the risk of getting involved. I plan on attending Auburn University in the fall and majoring in biology on the pre-med track. In college, I also hope to continue my soccer career playing for the club team.”
