Annual Teacher Appreciation Week celebrated CHS teachers and staff’s true dedication to the school and their students. The celebration, which began this week, Monday, May 5- Friday, May 9, included teacher “dress-up” days and daily treats throughout the week.
This year’s theme was “To the 80s”, a decade filled with neon colors, big hair, and MTV; a time when many teachers were in school themselves. Multiple local businesses partnered with CHS organizations such as the Coffee Shop, National Honor Society (NHS), the school’s PTSA and Booster Club, and administrators to honor Falcon teachers.
The “Cox Teachers are Rad” celebration will include:
Monday, May 5-Breakfast from Kolache Factory (7 AM in the library)
Tuesday, May 6-Taste Lunch (12:00-12:30 Wing/ Coffee Shop delivers treats during Block 2)
Wednesday, May 7- Zero’s Lunch (11:30-12:30 Wing/ Admin gifts in mailboxes)
Thursday, May 8-Donuts (7 AM in library/snacks delivered to Block 4)
Friday, May 9- BBQ Luncheon (11:30-12:30 at Wing/ Treats to Blocks 2 and 3)
Teachers also had the opportunity to dress up this week based on popular songs and artists during that time. Each song played throughout the halls after blocks ended. The 80s-themed Spirit Week days were as follows:
Monday, May 5-“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor (wear your favorite team shirt)
Tuesday, May 6-“Vacation by the Go Gos” (wear a shirt from your favorite vacation)
Wednesday, May 7-“Lets Dance” by David Bowe (wear your favorite band t-shirt)
Thursday, May 8-“Kids in America” by Kim Wilde (wear red, white, and blue or something patriotic)
Friday, May 9-“Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince (let’s go green and gold crazy)
“Teacher Appreciation Week is awesome,” Library Media Specialist Mrs, Ludford said. “It’s nice that Admin and students recognize the dedication, professionalism, and energy that teachers bring to school everyday to support students.”
