As students enter high school, they are faced with active expectations. Students challenge themselves to exceed those expectations, constantly pushing themselves to achieve more. Those who rise above these challenges maintain their everyday life of being well-rounded students.
Students who strive hard to excel must learn to manage their time and workload. High schoolers must balance their time between school, sports, and ongoing jobs.
Junior Ian McClure described his experience thus far as an active student.
Q: What does a day in the life of high school academic excellence look like?
A: “I study for tests and upcoming assignments every night for about 2 hours. I like to keep myself organized by taking notes and holding myself responsible for my work deadlines,” McClure said.
Q: What is it like partaking in high school sports?
A: “It’s not for everybody. I play varsity football, and it’s a lot of running and working hard almost daily. I enjoy staying active, it’s just all about routine,” McClure said.
Q: How is the experience of having a job in high school?
A: “I enjoy working to make my own source of income. I know a lot of people find balancing work with their personal lives difficult, but I think for me they blend well together,” McClure said.
Q: Do you have any advice you can share with students who are balancing school, sports, and a job?
A: “Focus on yourself and keep working hard. Work on time management and develop a routine to stay consistent and balanced,” McClure said
