After taking English 11, upcoming seniors are offered two advanced English classes for their last year at CHS:Dual Enrollment English and Advanced Placement (AP) Literature. AP Literature teacher Mrs. Molodow and Dual Enrollment teacher Mrs. Erskine both described what their class can offer students to help upcoming seniors decide which class to take next year.
Q: What is expected of AP Literature and Dual Enrollment students?
A: “Students will be expected to consecutively read and write throughout the entire year,” Molodow said.
A: “Students will have two semesters of college composition and will have to write multiple essays each semester,” Erskine said.
Q: How is AP Literature and Dual Enrollment beneficial for students?
A: “The biggest selling point is that students will be reading all year long. If you are college-bound, you should always be reading something,” Molodow said.
A: “With an AP course it all depends on what you score on the final exam. Dual enrollment is not dependent on an exam, as long as you finish with a C or higher,” Erskine said.
Q: What is a piece of advice you would give upcoming seniors considering taking AP Literature or Dual Enrollment?
A: “Everyone is welcome, I encourage you to take a risk and give it a shot to benefit from the ongoing reading and writing instruction this course provides students,” Molodow said.
A: “Dual enrollment will improve your writing ability, however students will always be expected to meet deadlines and fulfill expectations,” Erskine said.
