The Carib Shack is a popular local eatery located near Shore Drive off Great Neck Rd and is frequented by locals and tourists for its variety of Caribbean cuisine. It is all takeout and there are only two seats for waiting customers to sit and wait. The rest of the establishment is made up of the kitchen. It is often best to order 15-20 minutes ahead of time and when an order is ready for pick up, the restaurant will send a text. Although Falcon food reviewers Max Palmerton, Blake Heselius, Hayden German, and Christian Braithwaite usually prefer sit-down restaurants, they decided to check it out and share some information for those who have yet to try it out.
According to the Caribe Shack website, the restaurant offers the finest Caribbean cuisine with a “shack style” twist” and has been featured on famous chef Guy Fieri’s Food Network show, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
The owner is from the Virgin Islands and is highly skilled at creating authentic Caribbean-style dishes. Some more popular items include jerk shrimp and chicken bowls, fried chicken sandwiches, the Cuban, shack tacos, and many more. Any dish that includes chicken, shrimp, or beef is usually topped with a burst of Caribbean/Jerk-style flavor. This is what separates their food from other restaurants as it is a flavor that be recreated anywhere else.
The review crew ordered the Jerk Chicken Bowl, the Jerk Shrimp Sandwich, a hamburger and fries, and the Fiesta Bowl. One feature the crew found eye-caching was the display of the food itself; the Fiesta Bowl, for example, looked as if it came straight out of a magazine.
All of the food had a crispy, somewhat spicy Caribbean kick to entice taste buds; many of the dishes include curry as well. Palmerton raved about the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, his preferred choice, while the other reviewers enjoyed their meals, giving the restaurant’s cuisine an 8/10 overall. We all agreed that the sauces offered completed our food choices and included jerk sauce, avocado creme sauce, and sour cream.
Carib Shack is a great takeout spot to go home and enjoy, or as seen in the video footage, enjoy in the car. We love supporting local restaurants and this is one of the most current.
Anyone looking for a little “spice” in their life life can add this tasty menu to their palette, or try something new.
There is no better spot in the area for authentic Caribbean-style food, so we highly recommend Carib Shack.
