The CHS Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) organization recently competed at Kempsville High School in the DECA DLC, or District Leadership Conference in which students are split into two districts and then compete in an exam and role play.
Students can win up to three medals including: exam, role play and overall score. Students who place in either first or second place have the opportunity to compete at the state level.
Sixteen Falcon students from placed 3rd, 16 students placed 2nd and 20 students placed first. Fifteen of these students placed in the top three overall and ten students qualified for states which will take place in March.
Seniors Joseph Brown, Max Carnell, Elizabeth Jensen, Joseph Maleski, and Callie Workman, along with sophomores Cecelia Maleski, Alexander Marcou Thomas Moore and Alexis Irwin and freshman Ashland Castro are all among the ten students who will be advancing to the state competition.
“The students will take the next few months to study for the exam and practice for the role play in their positions in hopes of advancing to the International Career & Development Conference in Orlando, Florida,” says DECA Ambassador and Marketing teacher Mrs. Bellisimo.
