Helping those in need during the holidays is a cherished tradition at CHS. Through the Toys for Tots program, staff and students come together to bring joy to children in need by donating toys, and spreading kindness and holiday cheer to families in our community.
According to the Toys For Tots website , they are an IRS-recognized nonprofit national charitable program, that started 70 years ago in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Over the years, Toys for Tots has provided for less fortunate children with books, toys, and other gifts for the holiday season. Due to the kind Marines and volunteers, over seven million economically disadvantaged children in America are provided with hope on the holidays. Since 1947, this organization has collected toys through purchases by the Foundation, as well as locally and corporation-donated toys.
“We have been doing this for several years at the school, it makes a huge difference for kids who are less fortunate, and helps out families who are in need,” World History teacher Mr. Horwitz said.
CHS clubs came together to encourage students to donate toys this holiday season, aiming to bring smiles to as many children as possible. The overall initiative emphasizes the joy of giving while spreading awareness about the organization’s mission. Students are able to make a meaningful impact, brightening the holidays for children in need, and giving them a sense of community and compassion. This collective effort is a reminder of the power of generosity and the difference we can make when we work together.
