“I was a starter this year for the Cox Varsity golf team. We won the 5A region title and earned fifth in the state. This is my fourth year involved in student government and I was elected as the SCA Co-Vice President, so I coordinated our Citywide Forum in September and am currently working on Falcon Forum. This will also be my third year as the student director for the VB Love Run, where we’ve raised $48,000 since I got involved. I’m also a part of Cox Leadership Workshop staff, Yearbook Photographer, NHS Member, and a Cox World Quest Competition team member. Outside of CHS, I’m the Citywide SCA Vice Chair, VB Service Club Director, VB Elementary School Leadership Workshop Counselor.”
“Being involved is all about the people to me. It fills my soul to know that the work I do helps so many different people, whether it be students like me, or complete strangers in need. Getting involved has also blessed me with so many meaningful relationships. I’ve met some of my best friends and closest mentors because of school involvement. Specifically, Ms. Shumate has been a mentor of mine since the moment I got here. She inspires me to be a better person and I can’t thank her enough for all of her guidance. I would not be the person I am today without the relationships I’ve gained since getting involved. After high school, I hope to study public policy and non-profit management through the doctorate level to eventually do what I can to make the much needed change in our society, specifically in Washington DC.”
