This year, Falcons football has managed their way to eight wins through their first nine games and look to etch their way into the school’s history books. Already, this season’s class of seniors is the first athletes ever to accumulate three eight win seasons dating back to 2022. They hope to be the first Falcon team ever to achieve a ten win season while moving into the last week of the regular season, then looking forward to regional playoffs.
Although there are four co-captains, one was recently recognized by local media, turning heads within the region. Senior Captain Quarterback and Linebacker Max Palmerton has led by example and leadership on both sides of the ball for the Falcons so far this year.
Last week, Palmerton was recognized by Wavy 10 News as their “Bayport Athlete of the Week” following the Falcons senior night game against the Salem Sundevils on Friday, October 25. In this matchup, Palmerton rushed for 170 yards and five touchdowns while commanding the defense and accumulating several big tackles for the Falcon’s stout defense leading the team to a 49-35 victory.
“We expect so much out of Max and he always does more than we expect, whether it is on the defensive or offensive side of the ball. Us as a staff could not be more proud of what he has done for us this year,” Head Coach Tyler Noe said.
Palmerton’s leadership and on-field abilities have led the Falcons to the 2-seed in the region while moving into the last week of the regular season and the Falcons look to do damage in the month of November.
“It’s a great honor but were a team and we can’t get complacent because playoffs are right around the corner and that is when we have to play our best ball,” Palmerton said.
Palmerton and the 2-seeded Falcons prepare to take on the 5-seeded Chiefs of Kempsville in the last regular season matchup of the year on Friday, November 8.
