Young Writers Club is hosting a national writing competition called Fright Club for schools in Virginia Beach.
According to Young Writers, the club offers an after-school writing enrichment opportunity that allows students to get in touch with their creativity. Young Writers invites middle and high school students to participate in writing their “best spooky story” for the contest.
The story must be 100 words or less and only one entry is allowed per student. Each student’s name, age, and school will be included if published.
Students now have a chance to become officially published authors, win various prizes, and further explore their creativity with writing. The three contest winners will receive a $50 Amazon gift card, and each participant will receive a bookmark for taking part.
English teacher Mrs. Meyer offers this contest to their students in order to enhance their writing capabilities.
“I really enjoyed doing the Fright Club contest with my sophomores as a way to test their creativity and imbed literary devices in my classroom,” Meyer said.
The contest closed on Friday, November 1. Entries should be uploaded to the Young Writers website, or mailed to the address listed on the website.
