The CHS Falcons took on the Lions of Tallwood High School on Friday, October 18, for this year’s Homecoming matchup. The Falcons rose to the challenge and defeated the Lions in a close battle of 23-20.
“We had a bye week the week before the game so we have been preparing and planning for Tallwood for over two weeks. The offense and defense developed a good game plan and the players put in the time necessary at practice. They also managed to stay focused with all the distractions of Homecoming week,” Head Varsity Football Coach Mr. Noe said.
While the two teams collided, CHS students, staff, parents, and alumni celebrated this year’s Homecoming and all the events the half-time show provided entertainment including student-made floats for each Class and team sports and club floats that circled the game field while the Homecoming Royalty Court was announced.
Homecoming Royalty Court this year included four senior guys and girls: Phillip Cheng, Max Palmerton, Cole Ludford, Eitan Haas, Elle Vanoverberghe, Kylie Marsh, Erma Bailey, and Sophia Shupert. Students had the opportunity to vote on two of their peers to reign supreme during the week. In addition to the senior Court, other members joined them including juniors Rex Miller and Marlee Hancock, sophomores Jocelyn Dellaquilla and Tommy Torbert, and freshmen Campbell Wright and Sam Savino.
While the entire court was dressed to the ‘nines’, and all students deserved a chance to win, ultimately, senior Erma Bailey and senior Cole Ludford came out on top, crowned queen and king on this year’s Royalty Court. The two were embraced by the crowd as they circled the game field once they were announced.
The CHS Falcon Coquette dance team graced us with a halftime performance to show off their newest choreography; a compilation they have worked on since this summer.
“I am extremely excited to share in all we have accomplished so far this season,” senior Coquette Captain Grace Lindauer said. “The Coquettes are known for our “Rockette” style kick routines, which we tried daily to perfect for both the pep rally and halftime show during the Hoco football game.”
The CHS Marching Falcons impressed all students, fans, and alumni, providing a school-spirited atmosphere within the crowds.
“The band has been working tirelessly to not only prepare for upcoming competitions, but to also showcase all of our hard work throughout this whole season,” sophomore woodwind captain Frankie McQueen said.
While Homecoming was an all-around success, the Falcons football team headed back into practice as they prepare to take on the Salem Sundevils for CHS Senior Night on Friday, October 25.
