Falcon wrestling looks strong, regional and state tournaments near
The Falcon’s wrestling team continues their successful season as regionals and states come closer. So far, the team has won five matches and tied the other. The Falcons appear strong with wins against tough teams, including Ocean Lakes, currently ranked 4th in the area.
The team has not only done well in their district matches, but also in larger, city and state-wide tournaments such as Toys for Tots, Nova Classic, and Beast of the East.
The Falcons are currently ranked 3rd in the district. this season’s team is led by seniors Parker Tillery, Tyler Haley, Aiden Manning, Noah Calayo, and junior Graydon Howard. Each of these wrestlers could potentially make a run in the state tournament this year in their [respective] weight class.
“I think we are going to win it all, both the state and regional tournament,” Calayo said. “We definitely have the talent.”
The team’s work ethic continues to shine bright. Earlier in the season, Tillery lost to the 2nd ranked wrestler in his 157 lb. weight class. Recently however, Tillery beat him in a crucial match, further displaying the message this team wants to show; through hard work and perseverance, they will succeed.
Falcon wrestlers will have their chance to display their successes as the season closes. And as the regional tournament looms, held at the beginning of February, the Falcons look to win the region and hopefully send as many wrestlers to the state tournament as possible.
