Winter fashion trends deck the halls
With every season change comes a new recycling of fashion trends. The ever rising influence of pop culture has influenced this winter’s top trending. It’s not just about what’s on the runway anymore: the accessibility of social media, Tik Tok in particular, has trends popping up from everywhere. From minimalist to maximalist, this winter there’s a fashion moment for everyone.
As we enter the midst of the winter season, the nostalgic take on fashion continues. The resurgence of 90s and 2000s trends is nothing new, but 90s minimalism in particular continues to take the streets by storm. Low waisted pants and jeans, neutrals, and tailoring come in the lead with this style. Embracing dressing to minimalism standards embraces the winter landscape and makes choosing an outfit simple.
Ugg boots are officially back, with an ultra mini platform version made viral by Bella Hadid. Puffy jackets remain on trend as well. The ugg boots, puffy jackets, sweatshirt and leggings combo can be seen everywhere, including the halls at Cox.
Many micro trends, as seen on Tik Tok, have become mainstream this season. One style making the cut this winter is the downtown girl aesthetic. Inspired by street style looks, the downtown scene captures individuality. Everything from vintage pieces and thrifted clothing to leather jackets and colorful tights fits in the category. Maximalism is the name of the game here with the dynamic “more is more” mentality.
In opposition to that, Scandinavian style embraces the simplistic. Functional and fashionable, Scandinavian style is perfect for winter. Dressing this trend can look like layering neutrals, classic jeans, pops of color, and tailoring: think effortless chic.
