Homecoming pep rally returns, brings tradition back
The Student Council Association (SCA) hosted the first in-person Homecoming pep rally since 2019. The rallies are not only put on in effort to add ‘hype’ before the festivities, but also help to recognize the fall sports athletes and Homecoming royalty court.
The tradition returned with a new twist. This year, SCA introduced a challenge called Battle of the Classes. Each grade level will compete in challenges throughout the year. The winners of the hallway decorating contest were announced, seniors from the Class of 2023. Volunteers from each class were called down to the field to compete in tug-of-war challenges and a relay race which included eating donuts without any hands.
“Pep rallies are such a great way to get lots of students involved in fun activities. I think it makes students excited for homecoming,” senior Erin Bailey said.
Students are seated by class and work together for “random T-shirt tosses” and the Battle of the Class activities.
According to SCA co-sponsor Mrs. Shumate, this pep rally was one of the best I’ve seen and I’m so happy that everyone is back together and in person.
