Humans of CHS: May 2022 Edition 2.0

“Hi! My name is Ben Batiduan, and I am a senior at Cox High School. Something that I’m deeply attached to is my contributions as a student leader. Currently, I serve as the Cox Student Cooperative Association (SCA) Co-Vice President, and as the City-Wide SCA Vice-Chair. Both of these positions are ones that I hold so near and dear to my heart. I picked up these positions in 2021, and since then I’ve always felt that they fit me as well as a glove! Once I  became an SCA officer, I gained an immense amount of appreciation and gratitude for leadership. A huge reason I love being involved in leadership roles is in part due to the amount of returns and rewards that leadership has provided me. This year alone I’ve put in more of my time and energy helping to uplift my community, and by being involved in student government, than I have in the past 16 years collectively. And throughout this wonderful year, I’ve gained major clarity in understanding that being able to serve my community as a leader has some remarkable impacts! Events like Falcon Fest, Homecoming, #lunchbag, Love Run, and tons more have such a presence in our community that it brings us closer together each year, and I’ve loved every second of being a part of each. Thanks to SCA, I’ve met some wonderful people, I’ve grown as a public speaker and I’ve accomplished some formidable feats, like organizing events such as Falcon Fest and the Student Exchange. I’m so glad to have joined SCA and to have taken on other leadership positions when I did. It’s something I’ll always remember when I look back at my high school career. I strongly implore other prospective student leaders to expand their horizons and get involved just as I did!” – senior Ben Batiduan
