Teacher Mr. Ruddock recently took his Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA) students to the Virginia Beach Convention Center to help set up the Surf-n-Santa race in conjunction with J&A Racing.

J&A Racing is a local racing event planning company that Ruddock and his students work with from time to time.  The purpose of the FBLA was to not only complete some volunteer hours, but to teach students about revenue, customer service, and sponsorships.

After the event, FBLA students took that information and went about their volunteer jobs, mostly to check-in and process 1600 racers within the span of three hours.

“The best part of the event was watching the students’ personalities come out as they were volunteering with the race participants,” Ruddock said.
