SCA members receive excellence award, again
The school’s Student Council Association (SCA) was recently chosen from a sea of secondary schools to, once again, earn the National Gold Council Excellence Award.
Schools from everywhere are examined and selected based on how well they promote leadership skills, and serve their community. To be able to earn this award, a school must have outstanding governance, activities, service, and engagement. Then, each year, only one school is selected to receive this prestigious award.
Throughout the years, SCA has put together almost every event that takes place within the school including: pep rallies, Leadership Workshop, and World Kindness Week, to name a few.
Along with other activities SCA provides to promote school spirit, they also put together events that ask for donations, such as Hashtag Lunchbag, and the CHKD Love Run, which give food and monetary help to those in need.
“As a new member of SCA this year, it has opened my eyes to all the hard work that goes into spirit preparation for other students. Even through COVID, we have persevered and I can’t wait to see what we do next year,” sophomore Erin Bailey said.
Only schools with the highest level of leadership and successful sponsorship have the opportunity to receive this award. SCA goes the extra mile to give back to their community and their fellow peers, making this achievement well deserved.
