How to: DIY Valentine’s Day gifts
Valentine’s Day is not a holiday where people need to spend copious amounts money to show affection for loved ones. In fact, making DIY gifts is one of the easiest ways to show appreciation and love for someone. Putting time and consideration into handmade gifts can be more thoughtful than buying a present.
According to Good News Network, approximately 62 percent of Americans would prefer a gift that comes from the heart and is personal compared to an expensive gift.
And one of the simplest ways to reveal love for someone is with a handmade card. Folding colored or card-stock paper filled with loving words can brighten someone’s day with little effort. The card can be the most authentic way to reveal one’s emotions for the recipient.
Another gift that requires minimal effort is framed pictures. Pictures have the ability to bring back memories of the place and time where they were taken. One way to make your framed picture unique is to personalize the frame with a little bit of paint, some hearts and a few words for decoration.
Lastly, adoration may be conveyed through homemade Valentine’s Day treats.
Rice Krispie treats are a sweet treat that is easy to make. First, melt three tablespoons of butter in a large saucepan. Once the butter is melted, pour in one whole bag of marshmallows and stir until melted and remove from heat. Red or pink food coloring can be added for the holiday. Then, add six cups of the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until the cereal is well coated with the butter and marshmallow mixture. Lastly, spread the concoction into a pan and set in the refrigerator to cool.
Again, although Valentine’s Day is the “love” holiday, it does not need to be shown through store bought gifts. These simple DIY gifts are cheap and are sure to show admiration for someone.
