Students receive ‘Soaring Falcons’ award, outstanding accomplishments
SCA recently created a new program that awards students who not only make a difference, but “soar” above the rest with their extraordinary accomplishments. The chosen students are teacher nominated, chosen at the beginning of each month, and referred to as “Soaring Falcons”.
This new award is given as a school wide initiative to ‘outstanding citizens in and out of the classroom who go above and beyond every day’. The ‘Soaring Falcon’ award does not, however, replace the “Fantastic Falcon” award that is given to students by their teacher in the classroom.
“Soaring Falcons” receive a certificate and get to wear a badge that shows their accomplishment. Students’ pictures are also put in a showcase in the Business hallway downstairs.
Junior Jordan Parker-Ashe was one of five recipients to win the first round of the ‘Soaring Falcon’ award.
“I was so honored when I learned Mr. Goodson had nominated me because of my work for the Hoodies for the Holidays drive. Volunteering for Care By Community is such an important thing for me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead it and lead the hoodie drive for the homeless that we did with National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society,” Parker-Ashe said.
