National Art Honor Society collaborates with St. Mary’s
In effort to expand their community service presence and stay consistent with their theme, ‘celebrating a good life’, National Art Honor Society (NAHS) students collaborated with the Saint Mary’s Home on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to create art.
NAHS members worked with the children who reside at the home to make their own “bubble art”, mixing bubbles with liquid watercolor paints, then blowing the bubbles onto paper to create their own pieces.
As a result of the collaboration and due to the strong relationship NAHS students have created with local artists, the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, has offered to feature their artwork. Additionally, the piece will be auctioned off at a local Gala in February; all proceeds will benefit Saint Mary’s Home.
According to NAHS sponsor Mrs. Van Veenhuyzen, the project was artistic and fun and even though some of the children at the home do not have strong motor skills, together, they left the room full of joy and laughter.
