PowderPuff players bring it on
The annual SCA sponsored Powder Puff tournament will ‘kick off’ Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2:45 -6 p.m. on the stadium field. Instead of the guys taking each other down on the field, the girls are out for flags as the guys cheer them on.
And, as the varsity football players finally hang up their cleats after a tough season, 30 members of the varsity team plan to put on a whistle and coach their ‘girls’ to victory.
Each team will consist of eight girls, who are given the opportunity to not only choose their team name, but coordinate their uniforms, make up plays with their assigned coach, and choose their own (male) cheerleaders. Before the actual event begins, SCA students organize the teams into various brackets. Ultimately, the winning team is awarded the coveted ‘bedazzled’ football.
SCA co-sponsor Mrs. Nardelli is in charge of organizing the annual powder puff tournament, working diligently with students and staff to make the event look effortless and fun. Admission is free and concessions will be provided by SCA students.
“We have more teams than last year, which is good because that means the event is growing. And, just so everyone knows, the teacher team is stacked again. They will win this year,” Nardelli said.
Hang tight for updates and live tweets from this year’s PowderPuff game.
After a rough and tough few hours, it was team ‘Knockout’ who took this year’s Powder Puff title, taking home winning “bling” ball.
