National Art Honor Society volunteers at oceanfront
National Art Honor Society (NAHS) sponsor Jessica Syzmanski and students Alexa Marshall and Leandra Cameron met at Superior Pawn on 17th Street at the oceanfront’s VIBE district last week to help local artist Lisa Ashinoff complete a mural she was painting for the “10 Murals in 10 Days” event.
According to Syzmanski, NAHS students are committed to supporting the art community, so the [girls] met at the event to help “clean” up line work, or remove tape and/or help paint areas that needed extra work.
Ashinoff, a good friend of Syzmanski’s, was the only female artist chosen for the “10 Murals in 10 Days” event where ten new murals were to be painted by ten different local and national artists at various private properties. The event itself requires that ten artists are given ten days to complete their art while also offering the public a chance to interact personally with the artist at work.
“Lisa [Ashinoff] is a good friend of mine,” Syzmanski said. “I’m so happy to see more females in the local art community and even happier to see my students volunteer to help outside of the classroom setting.”
