Students volunteer at Shamrock Marathon
The Shamrock Marathon took place on Sunday, March, 18, beginning at 7:30 a.m at 42nd street and Atlantic Avenue.
In order to complete the run, marathoners from all around the Hampton Roads area ran through First Landing State Park, Joint Expeditionary Base in Fort Story, Rudee Inlet, and finished their trek at the Oceanfront, the boardwalk near King Neptune.
The race lasted seven hours with hydration stations set up every 1.5 miles along the course. Senior Griffin James volunteered at the race.
“I am dreading the thought of having to wake up at 3 a.m. to volunteer, but I am grateful to have this opportunity to hand out water to all the runners. They all worked so hard to get here and I am proud to be a part of it,” Griffin said.
