‘Educators Rising’ VTfT state competition
At this year’s EdRising State Event, students in the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow II (VTfT) program traveled to C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, to showcase their innovative and award winning project employed recently at Linkhorn Elementary School in effort to enhance teaching and learning.
VTfT students had partnered with Linkhorn Elementary School and J&A Racing earlier in the school year to design a curriculum that focused on T.E.A.M: teamwork, eating healthy, attitude, and movement. The students spent weeks teaching lessons to the K-5 students at Linkhorn and worked collaboratively to develop a pep rally for the same elementary students. The project culminated with the FitVB FunRun that raised over $17,000 for the school, which will help build a track at the school.
VTfT students seniors Kylee Hines, Madeline Arndt, Katherine Stauch, and Robyn Sanders won first place for their project presentation entitled ‘Inside Our Schools’, and will travel to the National Competition in Arizona for higher level competition.
In addition to the main award, senior Zhenja Lourenco won 3rd place for her production in ‘Exploring Administration Careers,’ Sanders won 3rd place for her project ‘Job Interview,’ while Arndt and Stauch also won 3rd place for their ‘Pre-K Children’s Literature’ project.
