Newly crowned 2018 Teacher of the Year is English teacher Colleen Paine. Paine received the award yesterday at the annual faculty meeting to recognize distinguished teachers.

Paine has taught at the school for 14 years, including Honors English 10 and 11.

“I was very surprised to win, there’s so many deserving teachers in the building,” Paine said.

One of Paine’s greatest attributes in the classroom is her willingness to listen to her students and find their best learning style.  She also incorporates as much technology as possible into her lessons.

“I try to reach students where they are and teach them from where they are rather than where they should be,” Paine said. Technology has helped to provide better feedback to students. Also, I use it to make learning more enjoyable through games and videos.”
