Student exchange: Falcons become Cavaliers, vice versa
The SCA sponsored Student Exchange gives students at Beach high schools the opportunity to swap with students from another high school school for a day. The event is aimed at allowing these students to see other learning environments within the community. This year, Falcon students swapped with Princess Anne High School (PAHS).
Falcons were greeted by the Cavaliers with donuts and juice to kick off the day. Students were given a partner for the day, who they shadowed around the school, attending their first three classes. PAHS were accommodating in that all teachers immersed Falcon students in the entirety of their lesson plans and gave them chances to join in on class discussions and activities.
After touring the school and watching the final Pep Rally, Falcon students left PAHS with the feeling of the full Cavalier experience.
The following week, roles reversed and PAHS students came to the school to shadow their previous partner.
Senior Ben Darnell was one of the students that participated in the Student Exchange.
“It was a great experience and fun meeting new students in Virginia Beach. I liked seeing how the classrooms function in a different school,” Darnell said.
