MR BAUMANN WAS a Wheel of Fortune contestant

Humans of CHS: Mr. Baumann

“Wheel of Fortune came to the Navy base in 1996 to do a show on an aircraft carrier . My commanding officer picked me to go tryout. I tried out in Norfolk with thousands of other Military men and women. I didn’t get on the show, but 6-7 months later I got called back so I was able to go on the show as a civilian in 1996. When it came time to tape, I had to fly out to California. I had to pay for my own airfare and hotel. They filmed 2 weeks worth of shows in just two afternoons. There were 12 contestants who were chosen by picking a ping pong ball out of a popcorn bowl. 3 of the ping pong balls had an “X” on them and if you picked it you were on the first show. I wasn’t on the first show but I was on the next one. I won a total of just under $10,000. The entire show was just so fun.”
