The Hampton Roads Pride Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) organization recently commended the school’s GSA club who exhibited “great character” and outstanding leadership. 

The school’s GSA club is now in its third year and is best known for last year’s highly publicized “Love is Love” assembly, an assembly that doubled the club’s members.

Advanced Placement Environmental Science teacher Mrs. Turpin took over the club after previous sponsor, Victoria Sachar-Milosevich, moved to another Beach high school.  Turpin was on hand to receive the award on behalf of the club.

“It was an extraordinary honor to be recognized in all the community, and not just within the school,” Turpin said.
