MARCHING FALCONS BAND members compete against other area bands at a recent weekend competition.

In addition to the the multiple awards the Marching Falcons have acquired under Band Director Mike Lane, they acquired more distinctions and accolades this past weekend in the “Drums Along the Boulevard” competition at Princess Anne High School.

According to the Band Boosters Association, not only did the Marching Falcons place first in their division and best overall in a field of 19 bands in groups A and AA, but they also won caption awards for best music, best effect, best visual, best Color Guard, best percussion, as well as the Samuel Reynolds Grand Champion Cup.  All in all, they won a total of seven trophies.

Sophomore saxophone player Amy Horvath has been a member of the Marching Falcons for two years and is more than excited with the group’s success and is looking forward to their upcoming events and competitions.

“Every weekend we have a different competition and the competitions aren’t connected so each one gives us a chance to be better.  This weekend we will participate in the Neptune Festival Parade in the morning and then head out to Hickory High School in Chesapeake for another competition,” Horvath said.
