Diverse celebration
This month, widely known as Black History month, will also showcase a celebration of diversity; students and teachers are working side by side to make a difference.
Students, with the support of teachers such as Ms. Machay, Ms. Milosevich, and Ms. Szymanski have created a video to highlight the school’s diverse student body, incorporating it in with the annual February assembly.
The video itself will be shown during the 4A sign-up Diversity Assembly scheduled for 4th block on Thursday, Feb. 24, in the auditorium. Students, faculty, and staff are welcomed to share their own stories that display differences in race, religion, sexuality, disabilities, etc.
“We’re going to have the Step Team perform followed by Step Team Coach Eric James, who will give a short speech. Falcon Harmony will perform, the Beach Buddies club and the Asian Culture club will make an appearance, Theater will perform a play about bullying, and we may do something involving our military students,” Syzmanski said. “It was kind of a coincidence, but it also seemed appropriate to have the assembly during Black History Month.”
