Jessica Abbott is to date the youngest Virginia Beach councilwoman ever elected and credits social media for her recent victory over Incumbent Amelia Ross-Hammond.

According to the Virginian Pilot, 27-year-old Abbott credits her victory to the hours and hours she spent on Facebook personally answering every question that citizens asked her via the social media platform. Furthermore, Abbott credits Facebook for helping her campaign and enabling her staff to reach people they would not otherwise reach.

Abbott seems to believe that the City of Virginia Beach could become a hot spot for new ideas and over the next four years plans to stay true to her election platform by working to lower taxes, promote growth, and to represent her fellow millennials, which never had representation until her win.
