Learning through real life, the “Roaring Twenties”
A number of senior jazz band students performed some old school melodies for Mrs. Molodow’s 11th grade Advanced Placement (AP) English class as part of a class presentation for the novel The Great Gatsby and its depiction of the “Roaring Twenties”.
The musicians originally played for their own AP senior English classes as a form of showcasing Harlem Renaissance culture. As Molodow’s juniors were reading the novel that pertained to the same era, junior Alex Spear added his friends’ jazz expertise to his own class presentation.
Junior Skylar Maihles was taken aback by the presentation, finding the effort her classmate initiated for his project and presentation,”pretty cool.”
“Mrs. Molodow asked us to turn in our Great Gatsby novel projects on Friday and Spear brought in the jazz band as part of his presentation,” Mailhes said.
