Q: Has track changed since the first time you started coaching?
A: “Yes, track has changed. There is a lot more information now that we have ‘Mile Stat’. There is also a lot more ‘trash talking’ on Twitter that has surfaced and runners get more praise since we have social media now.”
Q: What do you plan on doing when you retire?
A: “Sit on my deck and read my favorite comic books.”
Q: How did you get into coaching track?
A: “Well I ran track in high school and college. I went to the University of Utah and the University of Buffalo and when I started teaching I just decided, ‘Why not coach track too?’, so I have been coaching for 33 years now.”
Q: How did you get into teaching?
A: “I needed a job and there wasn’t a lot of other work available, but also because the working hours are pretty regular!”
Q: If you could choose another job other than teaching what would the job be?
A: “Exercise physiology.”
