Snapchat geo-filter contest

March 3, 2016

Falcon Press will hold a contest in which students may create and submit designs for a Snapchat geofilter for the school. The top three entries will then be posted on coxfalconpress.org for students to vote on their favorite design.

Finally, the winning entry will be submitted to Snapchat for approval and “Frank Dubbs” will be on the map.

Also, the winning artist will receive a gift card basket.

How do I make a geofilter?

According to instructions about how to make a Snapchat geofilter, students will use either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop programs to create their original filter. Websites that allow a person to create a geofilter, such as geo-filter.com, are acceptable as well, as long as the created filter meets the file type and size requirements. Snapchat provides specific templates for each program. These templates may be downloaded at: https://www.snapchat.com/geofilters/submit.html.

Each submission should be saved as transparent PNG files. Each design must be 1080 pixels wide and 1920 pixels high. Files should be under 300KB.

  • All graphics used must be 100% original.
  • No logos or trademarks.
  • No photographs.
  • No hashtags.
  • Be creative and make it visually compelling.
  • Don’t cover up too much of the screen.
  • Make sure it’s relevant to the location and something that people will want to use.

Geofilter design entries should be submitted to Falcon Press at [email protected]. Please include your name and grade along with your entry.
