Cox, Princess Anne, and Kellam High School hosted the annual 5K Love Run/Walk this past Saturday, Feb. 13, at Princess Anne High School to benefit the Children’s Hospital for the King’s Daughters (CHKD).

Although the race was scheduled to take place at Thalia Elementary school as in past years, due to inclement weather conditions the 5k was changed to a one-mile run around the Princess Anne High School track.

The race was split into three groups: men’s competitive run, women’s competitive run, and the “Fun Run”.

Dozens of raffles were given out along with a wide range of prizes and awards.

“The race was so much fun! It was different then last year since it was around a track but it was cool that so many people still came out to support a great cause!” Senior Madison Dominick said.

The race coordinators anticipated raising over $10,000 for CHKD.

“The race was an amazing opportunity to see how three schools can put their differences aside and work towards a common goal of helping raise money for CHKD. Despite having to change plans, it was still a huge success and we had lots of people show up race day to show their love and support,” sponsor Sabrina Shumate said.
