Boys volleyball hosted and defeated the defending Division 5A State Champions Princess Anne (PA) on Tuesday night.

Junior middle hitter Cam Bailey started in the key matchup, providing blocks and hits.

“Win or lose, the game means a lot to us, we only get to play PA once this season, “ Bailey said.

The team accomplished the feat without a full-strength lineup. Senior middle hitter Greg Hahn was sidelined with a severely sprained ankle. Hahn’s injury is the latest in a string of challenges faced by the team this season.

“We started off slow earlier in the year, so especially now, playing strong against good teams, it’s great,” Bailey said.

As of last Tuesday, the school’s team was ranked third in South Hampton Roads, while PA’s squad was ranked first.

Victories over top-ranked teams in the area like Cape Henry and Princess Anne, the boys plan to show that they again have a chance at the state title.
