Perez takes first at Tidewater Science & Technology Fair

JUNIOR CATALINA PEREZ recently won first place in the animal science category at the Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair.

For the first time in the school’s history, science students entered the 64th Annual Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair held last weekend at Old Dominion University. And, for the first time in the school’s history, one of our students won.

Junior Catalina Perez was awarded a first place distinction in the animal sciences category for her research on the effects of cellphone radiation on sea urchin fertilization rates.

Perez also took the grand prize in the 11th grade overall competition, winning the In-Vitro Biology Award.

First place winners in the Tidewater Fair are offered a chance to compete at the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair on March 27-28.
