Rowing to C.R.A.S.H. B’s
March 3, 2015
Rowers from all over the world met at Agganis Arena in Boston recently to compete in the C.R.A.S.H. B. Sprints, or the World Indoor Rowing Championships.
The competition, established by Olympic and National Team Oarsmen in 1982, is one of the most prestigious rowing races in the United States, also holding international renown, according to crash-b.org. Held during the winter when rowing is not feasible outdoors, digital ergometers allow rowers the opportunity to stay in top shape.
After a season of harsh winter conditioning, the school’s first ever Crew Club rower junior Jack Muriano competed at C.R.A.S.H. B’s.
Muriano’s ergometer score for the 2000 meter race was a 6:55.1, not only earning him the spot as fastest on the school’s team, but he also beat his personal record.
Finishing in sixth place out of 28 other competitors in his heat, Muriano is now ranked 133rd out of 248 worldwide.
