¨Hello! My name is Abby and to be honest the most interesting part of my life would probably have to be field hockey. It began when I was a kid. I tried a bunch of different sports but none of them really clicked until, in first grade, I went to my first ever hockey camp. I basically fell in love.  And then, in the summer before middle school, I fell in love again with goalkeeping. It´s insane how competitive yet encouraging the hockey community is, especially among goalkeepers. In my free time I typically train young goalies in the area, and literally nothing else brings me as much joy. I´ve found that the next generation of hockey players is made up of brilliant, clever and extremely talented kids and just the knowledge of that inspires me everyday. There are so many good reasons to join a sport, the mental and physical aspects alone are incredible, but also the sense of family and community that it brings. I´ve met so many amazing and talented people across the country because of field hockey, and gotten to know hundreds of people who changed my life for the better. Field hockey has made me into the person I am today and continues to push me to be better every single day.¨ – senior Abby Spear
