Humans of CHS: January 2019 Edition
As a tribute to the social media blog "Humans of NY, " the Falcon Press staff decided to create a spin-off entitled, " Humans of CHS. " Staff members will roam the halls weekly until they find a " human" with an inspirational bit of advice, unusual story to tell, or who simply wants to chat about life.
“Just as if it was yesterday, I remember the day my father told me we were going to move to America from Spain. My little eight year old heart shattered and I felt like my life was over. I was incredibly scared of having to leave my old friends and make new ones. The idea of moving to a different country where people spoke a different language made me feel anxious. After my never ending flight from Spain and a confusing first day at Cox High School, I felt as though I would never fit in with the strangers around me. Everything seemed so different and I felt homesick. I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, nor how bright my future could become. However, eight years later I can truly say I couldn’t have been more wrong about my situation. I’ve been able to surround myself with the most wonderful people the world has to offer, and have made countless connections with friends that I now consider family. A change as radical as this has showed me how important adaptability is in life and how amazing it is to be able to enjoy life regardless of where you are. I would never change how things turned out, and will be eternally grateful for this new life and my new opportunities. At the end of the day, the world is just a massive blank canvas and it’s up to you on how to paint your story. “
