Humans of CHS: Mrs. Bellissimo
“I went to Siena College which is in Albany, New York where I was given a softball scholarship to play Division 1 softball. It was one of the best decisions I ever made because it allowed me to experience college but still have the structure I needed as far as being good at time management and having responsibilities. I couldn’t just sleep through or not go to class which is what most college students do. Being recruited was very stressful. Coaches would come all the time and you wouldn’t always be prepared for them and you felt as though your entire future relied on a single day or a single ‘at bat.’ When my coach came to watch me I took about 50 swings and I didn’t hit a single ball. I remember just wanting to cry but I just kept working and kept trying to show them what kind of person I am. I was still offered the scholarship. What they really look for is your attitude and your way of carrying yourself. With everything you have to give up to play a college sport, it was still the best decision I ever made.”
