Fountain fantastic

Two new water fountains have sprung up around the school in the past week. The fountains, made by Elkay Drinking Fountains are designed to fill water bottles more efficiently. The goal is to reduce the amount of plastic water bottles that go wasted at the school, by encouraging students to refill them.
A common issue students have at traditional fountains is never being able to fill their bottle completely as the awkward angle is anything but optimal. Gone are the days of bottles only filling up three-fourths of the way.
The Elkay EZH2O Bottle Filling Station, the school’s newly designed water fountain is activated in a completely sanitary way with a no-touch sensor located on the back wall of the fountain. When students place their water bottles under the Bottle Filler there is an automatic 20 second cut off so students don’t overfill their bottles.
The sensor is tripped and a refreshing stream of water dispenses effortlessly into the bottle so it wouldn’t be hard to get distracted and forget the bottle was even being filled.
Senior Cody Minter drinks water from the new fountain everyday.
“They’re pretty, innovative, and advanced. If you ask me it looks like we’re going to be saving lots of bottles,” Minter said after his first encounter with the new filling station.
The Bottle Filling Stations can be found downstairs near the gym in the foyer and upstairs near the aluminum benches next to the foreign language classrooms.
Senior Ruby Schaubach is known to always have a water bottle in her backpack and often fills up using the new downstairs fountain.
“You can fill your bottle to the brim, and that really makes a difference,” Schaubach said.
