Senior Erin Houston visits the University of Missouri, one stop on her journey to deciding where she’ll spend the next 4 years of her life.

Smack dab in the middle of Missouri lies the beating heart of Missourian pride, the University of Missouri. Drenched in black and gold, the city of Columbia, also known as “CoMo” continues to uphold athletic and academic prestige.

U.S News ranked the university as #103 in the nation, noting their remarkable Journalism and medical programs.

The University of Missouri is a medium sized school, but has a big school feel, with a student to teacher ratio of 20:1. Their acceptance rate is 78% due to the newly implemented policy of automatically admitting students with an ACT composite score of 24 or higher, or an SAT critical reading and math sub score total of 1090 or higher.

Mizzou was accepted into the SEC (Southeastern Conference), which they hope will lead to bigger and better things for their athletic programs. The Tigers are excited to support the rising team with their new head coach, Barry Odom, former defensive coordinator for the Missouri Tigers.

The University has a total of 4 branch schools, excluding the main campus in Columbia.

The overall feel of the campus is ecstatic, with tons of energy and spirit. The students are welcoming and friendly, and there is something happening around every corner. You’ll never be bored at this university!

MIZ-ZOU!
