Tidewater Community College visit
January 7, 2016
Senior Hunter Majewski visits Tidewater Community College and interviews Cox High School graduate Garrett Updegraff on his community college experience
Q: How did you feel about the initial transition from high school to college? How do you feel now?
A: “It’s almost like high school, but with more mature people. It’s perfect to get your basics from there because you will save thousands of dollars but if you really want to learn a specific major, I would suggest transferring to a 4 year university of college after you get your basics from TCC. It’s not about where you start your college career, it’s where you finish at that matters.”
Q: How do you manage your time? How do you spend your time between classes?
A: “After classes are over, you do have a lot of free time. I have limited time between my classes, so I go grab a bite to eat from the local cafeteria that has great food and is cheap. I also go to the school library to do some of my work before and between classes because it is a great place for silence and has all the resources I need.
Q: Have you branched out to students other than Cox High School Graduates?
A: “I do branch out to others, but it is different because the classes range from people my age to people in their 50’s with several kids.”
