Girls Varsity Tennis Player junior Sarah Whited was recently chosen as Channel 13’s Athlete of the Week. Sports reporter Brian Smith interviewed her last week during Monday’s home match against Princess Anne.
During her freshman year, Whited competed in the region finals and was ahead one set to love only to sustain a severe ankle injury, knocking her out of the tournament.
After coming back from her injury, Whited won both conference and region titles in singles and doubles with partner junior Zoe Fraser.
“I love playing with the team and competing and I’m looking forward to playing in the team and singles state tournament,” Whited said.
Whited is currently undefeated and eyeing a state title.
