Thanksgiving recipes: tasty eats

 

The Thanksgiving season is just around the corner and Falcon Press staffers have included a few recipes for some classic delicious eats for the holiday.

  • 1 1/2 pounds of brussel sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 of black pepper
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Cut off the brown ends and pull off any yellow outer leaves.  Mix them into a bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other ingredient you wish.
  3. Pour them into a sheet pan.  Then roast for 35-40 mins (until crisp on the outside and tender on the inside).

  • 4 pounds of potatoes peeled and cut into quarters
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted better
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped chives
  1. Put potatoes, bay leaf, and salt into large pot.  Cover with cold water.
  2. Boil water and cook for 20 mins or until potatoes are tender.
  3. Heat cream with butter in saucepan.
  4. Drain potatoes and pour into bowl, then mash until desired textures.
  5. Add hot cream mixture, then stir in salt and pepper as well as chives.

  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY’S 100% Pure Pumpkin
  • 1 can (12 fl. oz) NESTLE CARNATION Evaporated Milk
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  1. Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves in bowl.  Then, beat eggs in another bowl and stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture.  Slowly stir in milk.
  2. Pour in pie shell.
  3. Bake in preheated oven at 425 F for around 15 mins, then reduce temperature to 350 and bake for 40 to 50 mins.
  4. Cool on wire for 2 hours.
  5. Serve with whipped cream on top.

  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans of green beans drained
  • 1 (10.75 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (6 ounce) can French fried onions
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Place green beans and soup into microwave safe bowl.  Then, mix well and put in microwave on high until warm.  Mix in 1/2 cup of cheese and heat for 2-3 mins in microwave.  Place french fried onions and remaining on top of the casserole dish.
  3. Then bake until cheese melts and onions start to brown.

  • Box Betty Crocker Super Moist yellow cake mix or your desired flavor cake mix (water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake box mix)
  • containers Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy milk chocolate frosting
  • 1 tube (4.25 oz) Betty Crocker white decorating icing
  • 1 tube (o.68 oz) Betty Crocker brown decorating gel
  • Candy corn
  • Betty Crocker chocolate candy sprinkles
  1. Heat oven to 350 F or 325 F for dark or nonstick pans.  As directed on box for a count of 24, make, bake, and cool the cupcakes.
  2. Frost cupcakes with frosting and place remaining frosting in corner of resealable freezer plastic bag. Then, snip off a small corner of the bag.
  3. To decorate each cupcake, pipe 1-inch chunk of frosting on one side of cupcake for the head of turkey.  To make eyes, decorate white icing and brown decorating.
