VIRGINIA STATE DELEGATE Bill DeSteph met with students from the Young Republicans club in Richmond on Thursday.

Founding fathers of the school’s newest club, the Young Republicans, were offered the opportunity on Thursday to visit the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond to meet with state delegates regarding school safety.

Student members seniors Leland Cobb, Warren Smith, and Ian Lichacz traveled to Richmond where they were not only introduced in both Houses, but were also able to speak with House Delegates Jason Miyares, Bill DeSteph, and Cheryl Turpin about the idea to implement the Guardian System, an active shooter response system, into schools in lieu of the most recent school shooting in Florida only two weeks ago.
